Research in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seeks new knowledge and solutions to the most important challenges facing the citizens of Arizona, the US and the world. CALS faculty, staff and students conduct research in the agricultural, biological, biomedical, environmental and social sciences. Research is funded through grants and contracts from federal and state agencies, by private organizations and through Institutional support. Research is also supported by the Arizona Experiment Station, the traditional research arm of the land grant mission. The Experiment Station provides infrastructure support through Federal Capacity funding and through the research facilities of the CALS Agricultural Centers located throughout the state. Research is also integrated with the CALS Extension program and Tech Launch Arizona, embracing the continuum from knowledge discovery to application.
The CALS Research Office oversees the research mission of the College. Support is provided to faculty, staff and students at all stages of the research project life cycle. The Research Office also supports new initiatives and provides an information portal for University personnel, alumni, funding agencies, industry collaborators and the public.
